Introduction to Ford keys

Early Ford car keys use a red chip system. The transponder chip itself is actually made from clear glass and concealed in the head of the key. These keys are identifiable by a small red square on the top right corner of the key, hence the name! You may have also seen a key with a completely red head. This is the master key used in the earlier three key red systems.

Later models use a similar glass transponder blue chip system, again identifiable by a blue corner on the key.

The very latest keys still have a blue corner but contain a black carbon chip which is more advanced.

We are able to program new Ford keys even without the red master key.
