Vauxhall key programming

In order to cut and program Vauxhall keys we require a key number and 4 digit security code. You can find this information on your Vauxhall Car Pass. This is a credit card sized piece of paper ussualy stored in the front page of the black leather folder supplied with the car

If you do not have this card do not worry, we are still able to help were many other locksmiths would be unable to assist.

Once inside your vehicle the auto locksmith will use specialist tools to safely extract the Vauxhall ignition. An autopsy of the ignition barrel provides us with the information required to cut a new working key.

Next we will remove the immobiliser box and extract the security code utilising specialist software.

Types of Vuaxhall keys

Vauxhall utilise a number of key types. Your Vauxhall key will either be a standard manual key, or a remote locking key. A standard manual key will open the door when instered into the lock, and start the car when turned in the ignition. A remote locking Vauxhall key will do exactly the same with the added functionality of locking and unlocking the car from buttons on the key.

Vauxhall remote keys

A remote locking Vauxhall key, some times referred to as a "fob key", will have buttons built into the key that will operate the cars central locking. This is not to be confused with a tranponder which is actually a small chip hidden inside the key that deactivates the vehicles immobiliser and allows it to start. A Vauxhall transponder chip will also be present in the manual keys.

Key number 6 was the original style remote key supplied when the Astra H and Vectra C models were first introduced. This key is no longer produced and remote keys 7 and 8 take its place as a replacement vauxhall key.

Vauxhall car pass

The car pass is a credit card sized card found inside the front perspex of the black leather folder supplied with the car. This card contains various pieces of important information specific to your vehicle. For replacement Vauxhall keys the two pieces of information required are the "key number" for cutting the key blade, and the "security code" for programming the transponder chip and remote locking fob. The Auto Locksmith is able to replace all Vauxhall keys even without this card, but if you have the car pass it ensures your new Vauxhall keys can be replaced with least amount of fuss.
